If you want to travel on glaciers, you must learn these skills!

  2. When and how to rope up? Equipment & techniques

  3. Travelling on the ice roped and unroped

  4. The most important knots & hitches

  5. Required equipment: specialised and budget-friendly alternatives

  6. Arresting a roped fall

  7. Basic crevasse rescue: tractor pull, anchor building and transfer, drop loop system & mechanical advantage

Designed for skiers, splitboarders, and climbers with zero to limited knowledge of glacial travel and systems. We'll cover theory and introductory techniques in class, then apply the skills and add more in the field.
To reduce travel and maximise practice time, we will not travel on glaciers for this course.
Ropes & other group gear included. Students supply their personal gear, list will be provided on registration.
